Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward Kylian Mbappe is likely to complete his move to Real Madrid in the 2024 summer window but the Frenchman has three demands, as per Spanish news outlet Cadena SER.
Mbappe’s current contract with PSG ends on June 30, 2024, unless he decides to activate the optional one-year. As of now, the Frenchman is legally allowed to sign a pre-contract with any team he wishes.
Multiple news outlets reported that the chances of Mbappe joining the Whites are high but the club will not offer him the same amount of money they were willing to in 2022 when the 2018 World Cup signed a new contract with PSG.
As per Cadena SER, Mbappe wants a gross salary of €50 per annum. Madrid have been managing their finances exceptionally throughout the years and the current highest earner in the squad is Toni Kroos with €24m per year salary. It is unlikely Los Blancos will meet that demand.
Secondly, the 25-year-old requires a whopping €125m signing bonus which would go to him and his mother/agent, Fayza Lamari.
Third, the Frenchman demands to keep a percentage of his image rights. Normally, Real Madrid have retained these rights for all of their players but according to a recent report, they would make an exception for Mbappe and keep only 60% of those rights.
All these demands appear to be within Real Madrid’s reach. While the club would, indeed, give a massive signing bonus to the player and his agent, it is very unlikely for them to meet Mbappe’s demand of €125m as in 2022, they were willing to give €70m signing bonus.
Mbappe’s saga is entering another decisive phase, multiple outlets have reported that the PSG talisman will announce his decision in the upcoming days but it is unlikely for him to public his decision just before the Champions League knockout stage begins.
